The two-wire high-precision intelligent magnetostrictive level gauge is a measuring instrument developed based on the principle of magnetostrictive induction torsion wave, which can measure liquid level and interface simultaneously.
High precision: Excellent measurement accuracy, up to ±1mm or ±0.1% FS (Full Scale) and even higher, far exceeding traditional level gauges such as float and capacitive types.
Non-contact measurement: No mechanical contact between the magnetostrictive waveguide wire and the internal magnetic float (or measuring ring), eliminating wear and tear, and fundamentally avoiding faults caused by mechanical jamming and abrasion.
Maintenance-free: No wear of moving parts, basically no maintenance required under normal working conditions, with a long service life.
Good medium compatibility: The measuring rod (waveguide tube) is available in a variety of materials (e.g.,stainless steel, Hastelloy, PTFE lining, etc.), suitable for measuring water, oil, acids, alkalis, solvents and various high-viscosity, slightly corrosive media.
Suitable for various containers: Applicable to atmospheric, pressure vessels and underground storage tanks, with multiple installation methods including top mounting and side mounting.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
The magnetostrictive level gauge mainly consists of electronic components, magnetostrictive waveguide wire, float and other parts. During measurement, the electronic components generate a current "excitation" pulse, which travels down the waveguide wire at the speed of light and forms a circumferential Ampere annular magnetic field around the waveguide wire.
When the annular magnetic field generated by the excitation pulse current meets the bias magnetic field generated by the permanent magnet inside the float, the magnetic field around the float changes, causing the waveguide wire made of magnetostrictive material to generate an induced torsion wave pulse at the position of the float. The torsion wave propagates to both ends of the waveguide wire at the speed of sound: the one traveling to the end is absorbed by the damping device, and the one traveling to the excitation end is received by the wave detection device.
The electronic components measure the time difference between the pulse current and the torsion wave, and then multiply it by the propagation speed of the torsion wave in the waveguide wire (a fixed value of 2800m/s) to accurately calculate the distance between the position where the float generates the torsion wave and the measurement reference point, i.e., the liquid level position.
APPLICATION FIELDS
The intelligent magnetostrictive level gauge is widely used in the measurement and control of liquid level and interface in process control, petroleum processing, pharmaceutical, food processing, water treatment, tank farm management, underground inventory of gas stations and other fields. Specific application scenarios are as follows:
Petroleum and natural gas industry: Used for liquid level monitoring and oil level control of oil tanks, storage tanks, pipelines and other equipment. It has high explosion-proof performance, especially suitable for measuring chemical raw materials and flammable liquids.
Environmental protection industry: Used to monitor the liquid level of sewage treatment tanks, sedimentation tanks and other equipment; in addition, it can monitor groundwater level and water level of rivers and lakes.
Food and beverage industry: Applicable to liquid level measurement of filling equipment, mixing tanks, fermentation tanks and other liquid storage and production equipment in the food and beverage industry.
Pharmaceutical industry: Suitable for liquid level monitoring and control of liquid medicine storage tanks, pharmaceutical mixers, solid-liquid separation equipment, etc.

INSTALLATION METHODS AND PRECAUTIONS 1. Installation Methods
2. Installation Precautions
The selection of the level gauge shall be consistent with the on-site medium environment, including ambient temperature, pressure, vibration, impact, compatibility between structural materials and media, etc.
When the temperature of the measured medium is high (100~200℃), it is recommended to select a probe with an external float chamber and adopt side-by-side flange mounting. For higher temperatures (200~300℃), it is recommended to select a probe with an external float chamber side binding type and adopt side-by-side flange mounting.
There are measuring dead zones at the upper and lower ends of the measuring probe rod, which shall be considered when selecting the range (see the overall dimension drawing).
The size of the commonly used stainless steel magnetic float of the level gauge is Ф45×56×Ф15, and a flange connection of DN50 and above must be selected. For level gauges with threaded connection, users need to prepare flanges or brackets for installation by themselves.
3. Installation Precautions
No interference (such as agitators, feed inlets, etc.) at the probe rod installation position. The probe rod shall not be subjected to bending force, large impact or vibration. The magnetic float on the probe rod shall slide up and down freely without being blocked by other objects.
The level gauge must be installed vertically with an installation inclination not greater than 5 degrees. The marked hemisphere of the float shall be above the liquid level during installation. When fixing the lower limit locking ring, the upper end of the locking ring shall be flush with the marking line at the bottom of the rod (see the overall dimension drawing).
The electronic components of the level gauge are splash-proof but not submersible; liquid shall not immerse above the hexagon of the process connection. Protective treatment of the electronic chamber is necessary if required.
Protective measures must be taken when the level gauge is used in flammable, explosive, corrosive steam and liquid occasions.
The connecting cable of the level gauge must be kept away from high-power power supplies, radio frequency signal sources and other noisy transmission lines.
